Objectives: To provide African professionals the opportunity to improve
their educational levels and their practical experience of conservation in
the field.
Results:
3 professionals (from Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe) received scholarships
to attend a 4-week international course on management of cultural landscapes
at ICCROM.
Mechanisms were developed with the University of Zimbabwe
to provide two scholarships for participants of the AFRICA 2009 Regional
Course to continue
their studies towards an MA in Heritage Studies. The first two scholarships
are being awarded in 2003.
Bakonirina Rakotomamonjy was awarded an internship
to work full time on the 4th Regional Course in Porto Novo. In 2003,
Ms. Rakotomamonjy will
become
one of the programme staff.
