The topic of the first technical course was agreed upon in November 2002 during the Francophone Directors Seminar. At the same time, it was agreed that the activity should take place in central Africa, after which Cameroon made a proposal to host the course.

  • be able to coordinate implementation of inventory and documentation, including field work;
    better understand the process of establishment of Tentative List for World Heritage.

Structure: The course was organized with 4 main parts:

  2. methods and techniques of inventories and documentation;
  3. practical exercises on inventories and documentation;
  4. assessment of results, and elaboration of guidelines and recommendations.

Didactic methods varied depending on subjects, included classroom lectures, moderation, group exercises, stakeholder meetings, and site visits.
